AI MVP cleanup

AI-built MVPs, made ready for real users

Built it with Cursor, Lovable, Bolt or v0? I review it, then keep, refactor, redesign or rebuild each part, until customers and investors can rely on it.

Why a cleanup

AI tools are great for reaching a demo quickly. I take it from there: the screens, the flows, the server side and the testing, so the product holds up off the demo path.

Signs your MVP needs a cleanup

  • It only works in the demo

Click anywhere off the path you show investors and things fall apart.

  • Users can't tell what happened

No message when a list is empty, nothing while it loads, silence when it fails.

  • Everyone sees everything

Admins and customers get the same screens, because nobody set who can do what.

  • Sign-in you can't vouch for

Forms checked only in the browser, errors hidden, and a login nobody can explain.

  • Every screen looks a bit different

Several button styles, and spacing that shifts from one page to the next.

  • Each fix takes longer than the last

The code grew faster than anyone read it, so every change risks breaking something.

Cleanup or rebuild?

Not every AI-built MVP needs a rewrite.

Most need some parts kept and others rebuilt. This is how the options compare.

How a cleanup runs

Roughly four weeks from review to handover.

Deeper server or integration work can take longer. I'll tell you after the review.

AI MVP cleanup4 weeks
  1. ReviewWeek 1

Review the code and the screens

You walk me through the product, then I go through the flows, the screens, the server side, the integrations and the code the AI tools wrote.

    • Risk list
    • Keep, refactor, redesign or rebuild
    • Map of the flows
    • Missing states
  2. AgreeWeek 2

    Agree the calls

You sign off the list. Then I start on one consistent set of components and screens for the rest to build on.

    • Signed-off priorities
    • Components tidied
    • Shared styles
    • Fixed price for the rest
  3. FixWeek 3

    Server-side fixes

The logic behind the screens, the database, sign-in, who can do what, checks on what users send in, and handling errors properly.

    • Permissions
    • Server-side checks
    • Error handling
    • API cleanup
  4. HandoverWeek 4

    Test and hand over

I test the product end to end, smooth out the rough edges and write down what changed and what comes next.

    • Testing
    • Handover notes
    • Plan for what's next
    • 30 days of fixes

What you get

A product your users can rely on, and a record of why.

The same product, reviewed, fixed and written down, in code and accounts you own.

  • Code and screen review

The flows, the screens, the server side, the integrations and the code the AI tools wrote.

  • Risk list

Every part gets one of four calls, keep, refactor, redesign or rebuild, written down with the reason.

  • Missing states

Messages when a list is empty, while it loads and when it fails, so users can tell what happened.

  • Who can do what

Sign-in, roles and server-side checks on what users send in, so admins and customers see the right screens.

  • Consistent screens

One set of components and shared styles for the rest of the product to build on.

  • Handover notes

What changed and what comes next, written down, plus 30 days of fixes.

What you get from the review

I sort it before I rewrite anything.

After the review, each part of the product gets one of four calls, written down with the reason.

Not sure where to start? Send me the code or a link and I'll tell you whether a cleanup or a rebuild makes more sense.

Ask for a code review
  • Keep

It works, it's safe, and your team can explain it.

  • Refactor

It works, but it's hard to change or doesn't match the rest.

  • Redesign

The flow confuses users, so the screens change first.

  • Rebuild

It's unsafe or in the way of the next version, so I build it again properly.

FAQs

AI MVP cleanup questions, answered

Which AI tools do you clean up after?

Products built with Cursor, Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit or Claude. I review it first and only rebuild the parts that need it.

Will you rewrite my AI-built MVP from scratch?

Not by default. Every part of the product gets one of four calls: keep, refactor, redesign or rebuild, written down with the reason.

What does a cleanup cost?

It depends on what the review finds, so there's no single starting price. After the review you get a fixed price for the rest of the work, and nothing else starts until you agree it.

How long does it take?

Roughly four weeks from review to handover. Deeper server or integration work can take longer, and I'll tell you after the review.

Should I clean it up or rebuild it?

Send me the code or a link and I'll tell you whether a cleanup or a rebuild makes more sense. If most of it has to go, a new web app is often the better spend.

Can you work with our developer?

Yes. I go through the code with them, agree the priorities and leave handover notes so nobody loses track.

Who owns the code and the data?

You do. The code, database, hosting and every outside account stay in your name.

What happens after the handover?

You get 30 days of fixes. After that, ongoing work is quoted separately.
